Shuriken
Shuriken is an XML-based tool for Linux system administrators to set up spans of time when the system should be up. Using the RTC daily alarm (requires BIOS, hardware, Linux support), the system will automatically power on (if it is off) for these intervals. The man pages provide all the documentation for the tools provided.
Releases: Version 1.1 Released
Last Modified: 2003-07-31T06:20Z
After spending a few hours working with GTK+ the last few days (including some messy work with GtkListStore
API, as described in this tutorial), Shuriken now has a handy GTK+ 2.2 interface, as shown in this screenshot. The GUI currently only accepts times in UTC (GMT) form, but most UNIX boxes run in UTC time anyway. And uptab(8) still works in whatever timezone you like...
I would say that some other features/bug fixes were added to this release, but really I can't think of anything to add/fix. There have been no bug reports or feature requests, so I'm under the impression that everything is working just fine. Feel free to prove me wrong!
